Jen Naugle
Searching for the quiet moments where
we remember who we have always been.
The water didn't change my work.
It revealed what I had been
searching for all along.
I don't create photographs because I believe people need to be transformed. I create them because I believe we all carry something whole beneath the expectations, roles, and stories we've collected over a lifetime.
The water became my greatest teacher.
It taught me that beauty doesn't come from control. Every day the spring is different. Light shifts. Sediment drifts. Fish appear and disappear. The landscape never asks to be perfect, yet it is endlessly beautiful.
Over time I stopped trying to overcome those imperfections and began creating with them instead.
My photographs changed because I changed.
Biography
Jen Naugle is a fine art photographer and artist based in Tampa, Florida. A graduate of Ringling College of Art & Design, she has spent more than two decades creating portraiture that explores memory, identity, and our relationship with the natural world.
Working primarily in natural springs and water, her photographs have been exhibited in galleries and featured in regional publications and television, including the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, Creative Loafing, and Tampa Bay's Daytime television program.
Today, Jen's practice is divided between creating commissioned portraiture and developing personal bodies of work for exhibition and collectors. Her work is rooted in the belief that the most meaningful photographs are not about how we appear, but about what we remember long after the moment has passed.
